The apocalyptic image shows New York harbor aflame beneath German bombers and a decapitated Statue of Liberty. The design implicitly articulates the isolationist argument that America should not have intervened in the "European" war by suggesting that the US can either fight the Germans in Europe now or fight them on American soil later.
