    Considered the first Broadway Musical, the play opened Sept. 12, 1866 at the 3,200 seat Niblo's Garden on Broadway and ran for 474 performances It was 5 hours long Featured a melodrama about a painter who sells his soul to a sorcerer and mashed together a dance number with Parisian dance group. The play was written by Charles Barras. Eugene Tompkins grand production of "The Black Crook" was a spectacular Romance in four acts. Great ads in the program.
